Before recording tonight, we practiced a set for an Open Mic that we are going to on Sunday. Huge shout out to Jane Lovett for putting the event together. I'm so beyond excited to get out to sing! Our last public event was in majestic Eagleville, CT on March 10, 2020. We've got a set that only involves one guitar & if you know Bob or have seen us play, you know that's a pretty big deal too. Best news is it is indoor, so doesn't matter if it rains - it's still happening, SO Thankful!!
For those of you who read last week's post, you'll know we were working on a new song that needed a title, we've landed on "Debbie Grey" pulling from the lyrics "Why oh why, nothing nice to say. No matter what, it's just sad, it's grey." We recorded my lead vocal tracks tonight & I channeled my inner Amy Winehouse, unintentionally producing a harmonic sound that Bob compared to Natalie Merchant. I get that often, it's always such a well received compliment - I'm such a lifelong admirer of hers, I cherish the comparison. The song, despite being about rain and buzz killers, it is really quite jazzy and compelling. At one point I realized both Bob and I were swaying as we listened to it - it's got a catchy catchy feel to it for sure! I have no idea when you can hear it but when you do, please tell me what you think. What I can tell you is that we will be releasing our next video "Take My Money" this Friday, March 5th. Have you subscribed to our YouTube page yet? If you have, thank you!
