Last night we were fortunate to perform at The Pub in South Windsor, who had their first Open Mic in over 390 days - what had once been a weekly event was disrupted for over a year. We were among an enthusiastic community of musicians and music fans who celebrated the new beginning and carried on old traditions. It was uplifting to hear how excited others were to be out preforming and listening to live music. Thank you to Jane Lovett, the hostess with the mostess for coordinating such a joyful comeback! It’s great to be able to share time & the stage with such passion and talent.
Another first in a long time, tonight in the Studio we got to jam with our drummer Dan. I’ve lost track of how many moons since we’ve done that. Felt great to be able to plug in & play electric & revisit songs like “Just getting by” & “Talk to God” and work on new ones “Debbie Grey”, “Take my Money”, & “Sugar in my Coffee”. I cherish the relationships that can pick up right where they left off & just keep building from where you reconnect.

Now that it’s Spring in CT, there are signs everywhere in Nature of renewal, reemergence and new growth. The days are getting warmer and longer, everyday the trees have more buds and song birds are busy chirping & building nests. It’s a time for planting, for returning to outside, camp fires & open air venues. I’m excited for the Season of Renewal and to see how the local music scene is rebuilding itself as well. Time to come out of dormancy and go into full bloom!! As much as I value “down time” now it’s “high time” to get back to Rock ‘n Roll!
For anyone who has been feeling out of the swing of things too, Failure isn’t about falling down, it’s when you don’t get back up...it’s always possible to start again, if at first you don’t succeed, try & try again, no matter how long you’ve been doing something or not - the choice to stop or start is always yours - fall seven times, stand up eight...time to Rise & Shine CT!!
Locals can catch us this Sunday for open mic at American Legion in Vernon. Three cheers for Live Music back in the (860)!
This week I’m thankful for warm sunshine, fresh starts & and the restorative powers of Live music.
